Founded in 1957, Mulligans Pharmacy is a well-established, family-run business operating within the retail pharmacy sector. Over the years, we have grown to 20 locations across the South East of Ireland, employing over 300 people across Waterford, Kilkenny, and Tipperary. We are currently seeking a Financial Controller to join our head office team, based in Waterford City. This is a full-time, onsite position, working 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday. A key role within the business, working closely with senior leadership to drive financial performance, strengthen controls, and support continued growth. The Role You will take ownership of the day-to-day finance function, ensuring robust financial management across a fast-paced, multi-site retail environment. This role requires a strong commercial mindset, with the ability to translate financial data into clear insights that support operational decision-making. Key Responsibilities:
  • Preparation of monthly management accounts and reporting packs
  • Budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
  • Delivering accurate, timely financial information to support decision making
Commercial & Operational Support
  • Analyse store level performance, margins, and cost drivers
  • Partner with operations to improve profitability across all sites
  • Support pricing, promotions, and cost control initiatives
Cashflow & Controls
  • Manage cashflow, working capital, and supplier payments
  • Strengthen financial controls and ensure consistency across all locations
  • Monitor stock, wastage, and margin performance
Compliance & Governance
  • Oversee statutory accounts, audits, and tax compliance
  • Manage relationships with external auditors and advisors
  • Ensure adherence to financial and regulatory requirements
  • Lead and develop the finance team
  • Build financial awareness across store and operational teams
  • Drive accountability and best practices across the business
About You

You are a commercially focused Financial Controller with experience in a multi site retail or similar environment.

You will bring:

  • Strong experience in management accounting and financial control
  • Proven ability to support operational teams and improve performance
  • Excellent analytical, organisational, and communication skills
  • A hands on approach with the ability to operate in a fast moving environment
  • Experience in retail, pharmacy, FMCG, or hospitality
  • Exposure to multi site operations
  • Experience with ERP and POS integrated systems
