Financial Controller

Title: Financial Controller (Trading House)
Salary: c. 80-90,000GBP base, Bonus + Equity Options

Imperium Commodity Search is confidentially retained by a rapidly growing, tech led trading business with continued and sustained expansion plans into 2026. The trading house is well capitalised and uniquely positioned in the chemicals and fertilizer space; bringing a tech led platform and reshaping the trading landscape in their niche.

Our client is seeking a full time Financial Controller to oversee day to day financial operations and ensure compliance, reporting and control is in place. The incoming Financial Controller will be critical in establishing robust financial process, managing accounting and treasury activities across the trading business, as well as working with senior management on supporting investor and board reporting. As the business continues to grow their commercial scope, the Financial Controller will be working closely with the leadership to assist scaling from a financial angle.

You will be:

• Managing day to day financial operations, accounting and cash flow management/reporting across the trading business
• Working with existing bookkeeping and accounting systems, handling reconciliations and month end/payroll matters
• Preparing management accounts and keeping records and accounts for dashboard presentation to assist in financial strategy and management
• Developing internal controls, processes and documentation flow to ensure stable, compliant and efficient financial management
• Coordinating with external counterparties where required across statutory filings, audits and external accounting for year end accounts etc.
• Supporting the preparation of materials and dashboard overviews on financial matters for board meetings, investor relations and fundraising cycles
• Maintaining visibility of liquidity, cash positions and funding needs, working with the leadership team on preparing financial reporting and visibility for expansion, investor meetings etc.
• Supporting the operations/trade finance department, working with invoice factoring and LC related activities where required

We would love to speak to you if you have:

• 5+ years experience in a finance management, financial controller or trade finance role with exposure to a trading desk/environment
• An excellent understanding of financial management/accounting principles and cash flow management
• A CPA/ACCA or equivalent accounting qualification
• Experience working in a physical commodity trading environment
• A desire to implement and scale finance operations to support business growth and take ownership of the financial matters of a rapidly growing trading business
• A track record of efficient management of AP (Accounts Payable) and AR (Accounts Receivable) in a transactional or platform business
• Leadership and communication skills with experience in working with a board/senior management teams on presentation/collation and dashboarding of financial statements/state of account etc.
