We are currently seeking a Financial Accountant to join our fast-paced Finance team. As a Financial Accountant with Susquehanna, you will perform a key role in the finance team and will assist in the preparation of financial, regulatory, and statistical reporting for a number of entities within the group. You will be comfortable with adapting quickly to a busy working environment, drawing on your previous experience to make a practical contribution to managing high volumes of data and contributing to ad hoc project. This role will give you the opportunity to gain exposure to our trading operations and support teams to build up knowledge of global financial markets in a fast-paced trading environment.
You will possess the energy, enthusiasm, and flexibility to successfully work with other team members in analysing, understanding, and working to improve the systems that underpin financial reporting.
Major activities and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Leverage your accounting knowledge with trading operations support teams to provide financial analysis to the firm
- Manage the trading P&L and balance sheet of a trading entity with Susquehanna
- Assist in the preparation of month end reporting packs for several group entities and present to management committee members
- Preparation of audit schedules to support income statements and balance sheets
- Assistance in the preparation of Statutory Financial Statements at year end
- Maintenance of accounting systems, to ensure that proper information is reported in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
- Fair value / financial instrument accounting under IFRS 9 and IFRS 13 recording trading positions, supporting month end fair value remeasurement, reviewing pricing inputs from Trading Ops, and assisting with fair value hierarchy classification (Level 1/2/3)
- Intercompany accounting and management fee recharges preparation of monthly intercompany journals, reconciliation of intercompany balances across SIG entities
- Liaising with external audit team during the audit cycle responding to audit queries, providing supporting workings, walking auditors through balances and preparing memos on accounting policies
- Support process improvement and control enhancement initiatives identifying inefficiencies in the close process, automating manual reconciliations, and contributing to systems projects
- Qualified accountant ACCA/CIMA or ACA
- Minimum of two years' experience in an accounts production environment
- Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Access and a proven aptitude for mastering IT packages
- Experience preparing audit schedules and dealing directly with external auditors
- Exposure to Asset & Wealth Management, Capital Markets or Financial Services Audit is desirable
- Familiarity with fair value hierarchy concepts (IFRS 13/Level 1,2,3) and pricing of Financial instruments
- Big 4 Financial Services Audit training background welcomed
