Financial Accountant

The Role - immediate start!

As a brand new addition to the UK finance team, the Financial Accountant supports the day-to-day activities of the Europe/UK finance team and ensures the company's finance function is organised, efficient and produces accurate financial and management reporting & information to facilitate sound business decisions.

Key Responsibilities

Assist in the preparation of timely financial statements including year-end, quarterly and monthly accounts, and other statutory requirements
Contributions to the timely completion of the year-end financial statement audit and preparation of all audit-related schedules
Month end reporting
Balance sheet reconciliations
AR / AP function
Daily preparation of cash position summary per agreed-upon format
Oversight of all payments to suppliers within agreed upon terms
Oversight of customer account balances and ensuring all customer invoices are paid within agreed upon terms
Ownership of monthly balance sheet account reconciliations

Successful Applicant

Relevant tertiary qualifications & experience in financial accounting - part qualified, QBE acceptable.
Experience in the food industry, agribusiness or logistics is highly desirable
Organised, accurate and with attention to detail
Must be a self-starter
Must have the ability to be hands on
The ability to think strategically and take a long term approach whilst continuing to make improvements on a day-to-day basis
Ability to improve systems and procedures to ensure timely and accurate financial data
Well-developed analytical and problem solving skills.
Has a working knowledge of a variety of software applications, including MS office and accounting software
Ability to work independently and in a team
Excellent communication skills, including interpersonal, writing and editing
Strong problem solving and analytical skills
Experience dealing with key stakeholders
Ability to meet deadlines with a "whatever it takes" attitude
