The Finance Operations Assistant Manager is a key role within Group Finance, helping ensure the Just Retirement Group delivers timely, accurate and well-controlled financial operations. The role holder takes ownership of important controls and complex balance sheet reconciliations that underpin the integrity of the Group's results, working at the heart of the month-end cycle and supporting half-year and year-end external audits. This is an opportunity for a proactive, detail-focused finance professional to broaden their experience across insurance, lending and non-insurance accounting, while contributing to a team recognised for high standards, collaboration and continuous improvement. The role combines hands-on delivery with insight, supporting financial analysis and reporting, ensuring robust SOx controls operate effectively, and identifying opportunities to simplify and strengthen processes. The role holder will deputise for the Finance Operations Manager as required, providing continuity of delivery and developing leadership and people-management capability. They will also play an active part in Finance Operations change initiatives, contributing subject matter expertise to testing, implementation and continuous improvement. Strong working relationships will be built across Finance and the wider business, including Legal, Company Secretarial, Retail and External Auditors.
Responsibilities- Own key controls and complex balance sheet reconciliations to support the integrity of the Group's results.
- Work at the heart of the month-end cycle and support half-year and year-end audits.
- Provide hands-on delivery and analysis for financial reporting, with a focus on robust SOx controls.
- Identify opportunities to simplify and strengthen processes and controls.
- Deputise for the Finance Operations Manager as required, ensuring continuity of delivery.
- Develop leadership and people-management capability and participate in Finance Operations change initiatives (testing, implementation, continuous improvement).
- Build strong working relationships across Finance and the wider business, including Legal, Company Secretarial, Retail and External Auditors.
- Proactive, detail-focused finance professional with experience across insurance, lending and non-insurance accounting.
- Ability to work across month-end and year-end processes, with strong analytical and reporting skills.
- Experience in internal controls, SOx compliance and process improvement.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills; comfortable deputising for leadership when required.
