Finance Director Sports

Robert Walters are working exclusively with a sports organisation to hire a Finance Direction with an exceptional commercial acumen where you can drive success. In this role you will play a key role in shaping the financial strategy for this sporting organisation. Although sports experience is not essential, a strong commercial track record and acumen is essential. Excellent salary and package on offer.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the finance team, promoting best practices and continuous improvement.
• Provide strategic financial advice to the CEO, SLT, Board, and committees.
• Oversee financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and cost control.
• Ensure compliance with statutory obligations, banking covenants, and regulatory requirements.
• Manage relationships with external auditors, ensuring timely completion of audits with clean opinions.
• Prepare long-term cash flow forecasts under various scenarios to manage risk and maximize opportunities.
• Direct procurement activities to ensure value for money while adhering to national/EU regulations.
• Provide financial oversight for joint ventures and partnerships.
• Present financial analysis and recommendations to stakeholders at all levels.
• Drive modernization efforts by implementing efficient systems, policies, and processes.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of senior leadership experience in finance or related fields.
• Fully qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA).
• Demonstrable expertise in financial strategy development, risk management, and analysis.
• Strong interpersonal skills with significant experience managing teams.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence diverse stakeholders.
• Proactive mindset with a results-driven approach to achieving organizational goals.
