Job Description

As a Service Engineer, you will be responsible for the maintenance, service, and repair of both customer-owned and COMPANY-owned equipment. This role is primarily based at a large distribution site. You'll be expected to build strong working relationships with customers and colleagues while completing all required administrative and operational tasks with efficiency and professionalism.

Key Responsibilities
On a daily basis, you will:

  • Carry out repairs and maintenance using the correct tools, techniques, and safety procedures.
  • Operate and test vehicles and machinery for diagnostic purposes.
  • Use standard computer applications, internet tools, and manufacturer service portals effectively.
  • Conduct diagnostics and repairs on forklift trucks and other machinery both onsite and in the field.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of manufacturer products and systems.
  • Complete service reports and administrative tasks accurately and on time.
  • Follow all company and site-specific health and safety regulations.
  • Participate in training programs to enhance technical skills and industry knowledge.
  • Ensure a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
  • Use company tools and vehicles responsibly and appropriately at all times.
Candidate Requirements
We are looking for someone who has:
  • Preferably previous experience servicing and repairing forklift trucks.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
  • Prior experience working in an engineering or technical service role.
  • Electrical experience (desirable but not essential).
  • A full and valid UK driving licence.
  • Proficient IT skills and the ability to use diagnostic tools/software.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • A self-motivated and proactive approach to work.
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team on large customer sites.
  • Flexibility to work extended hours and weekends when required.
