Job Title: Field Service Engineer
Location: UK (Field-Based)

The Opportunity

We are recruiting for an experienced Field Service Engineer to join a well-established CNC machine tool supplier. This is a field-based role supporting customers across a defined regional patch, providing installation, breakdown response, servicing and commissioning of CNC machinery.

This position suits an electrically biased engineer with strong mechanical competence and a solid background in CNC machine tools.

Key Responsibilities
  • Installation and commissioning of CNC machine tools at customer sites

  • Fault finding and diagnostics across electrical, mechanical and control systems

  • Servicing, preventative maintenance and planned inspections

  • Breakdown response and technical troubleshooting under time-critical conditions

  • Support on CNC controls (Fanuc, Siemens, Heidenhain or similar)

  • Aligning, levelling and geometric accuracy checks

  • Liaising with customers to provide technical support and advice

  • Completing detailed service reports and documentation

  • Working closely with internal technical and spares teams

Required Experience
  • Proven experience servicing or maintaining CNC milling and/or turning machines

  • Strong electrical fault-finding capability (drives, motors, PLC I/O, inverters)

  • Good mechanical knowledge (ball screws, spindle units, hydraulics, pneumatics)

  • Experience working with CNC control systems (Fanuc, Siemens, Heidenhain preferred)

  • Ability to read electrical schematics and mechanical drawings

  • Previous field-based service experience desirable

Qualifications
  • NVQ Level 3 / HNC / HND in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent experience)

  • 18th Edition (advantageous)

  • Full UK Driving Licence
