Department Overview Airwave leads the world in delivering mission critical communications services. Great Britain's emergency services and many public service organisations rely on Airwave to keep them communicating during both day-to-day operations and especially during unplanned incidents.
Job Description
This role is based in the York / Harrogate area, you ideally need to be located in this area OR willing to relocate to this area.
As a multi skilled Field Operations Engineer, you'll operate and maintain the TETRA Base Stations, Microwave Transmission, Enhancer equipment & Customer Control Room elements of the Airwave Network within agreed SLA's to maintain service to our customers.
Your Role:
• Microwave transmission operation and maintenance
o MUX/DEMUX operation and maintenance
• You'll respond to Network Incidents
o Partake in a 1 in 4 call out.
• You'll complete planned maintenance procedures
o Site planned maintenance visual inspections and functional checks
o 18th Edition electrical inspections
o Lightning Protection inspections
o Customer Control Room inspections
• You'll provide TETRA BTS operation and maintenance
o Capacity upgrades/downgrades/Commissioning & health checks
• VSAT 1st and 2nd line maintenance
• Mobile asset deployment and recovery
o Mobile base station
o Mobile VSAT equipment
o Masts
o Towable and hand portable generators
• Rigging/climbing activities (not essential)
o Antenna replacement
o Feeder/connector test and replacement
o Microwave equipment replacement/re-pan
o Structural Inspections
Basic Requirements
Primary requirements for the role:
The successful applicant must demonstrate an aptitude to develop, but not necessarily in all areas listed and work towards building their skill levels.
The successful candidate should be a competent individual with a passion for technology. An analytical mind-set will be essential for effective troubleshooting, improvement of the network's functions and successful fault management, carried out in a logical and methodical manner.
You should have a mix of great attention to detail and accuracy with a good level of IT literacy.
The successful applicant must also be prepared to travel within the UK and stay away from home, on occasions when required.
Hold a full valid driver's licence.
Take part in regular training courses (online & classroom based)
Qualifications:
Ideally, you will hold an HNC/HND in a Telecommunications, IT Networking or Electronics discipline.
Experience &/or knowledge: Listed is essential and desirable.
