Job overviewFertility Nurse - Band 5 Trainee post
An exciting opportunity has become available for a Band 5 Fertility Nurse to join our friendly team at Beginnings Assisted Conception Unit, St Helier Hospital.
The Band 5 Registered Nurse trainee post is over a period of 12-24 months. The aim of this post is to support structured development, with a clear progression pathway to Band 6, subject to satisfactory performance and the successful completion of required nursing competencies.
Main duties of the jobThe post holder will be delivering high quality care and providing support and advice for patients undergoing fertility treatment. The post holder will be responsible for maintaining good records in keeping with Trust policies and the HFEA regulations.
This is a full time post working 37.5 hours per week (Monday - Friday) with rotational Saturday shift and Bank Holidays.
Previous Fertility, Gynaecology or Sexual Health experience is advantageous. Fertility training will be facilitated within this role.
Person specificationQualifications and Training
- Completed and obtained RN qualification and has current live PIN on NMC Register.
- Evidence of continued professional development
- Fertility or reproductive health-related training
Experience
- Minimum of 2 years post-registration experience
- Experience of working within a multidisciplinary team (MDT)
- Previous Gynaecology or Sexual Health experience
- Experience within an IVF or fertility clinic setting
- Experience supporting patients with complex emotional needs
- Involvement in audit or quality improvement
Communication, Skills and Knowledge
- Evidence of excellent interpersonal skills.
- Excellent verbal skills, written and spoken English
- Excellent IT skills, including electronic patient record systems
- Ability to prioritise workload and manage time effectively
- Understanding of patient confidentiality and data protection
- Knowledge of IVF processes and assisted reproduction
- Awareness of HFEA guidelines and fertility regulations
