Job Description

Help us make health and harm reduction services easier for women to use

We are looking for a Female Harm Reduction Peer Coordinator to join the Hepatitis C Trust.

You will help us develop a new service in Hackney and the City of London. The service will help people stay safer and healthier when using substances.

You will work with the Project Manager, local drug and alcohol services, the London Joint Working Group and other organisations.

You will help provide:

Needle and syringe provision

Naloxone to help prevent drug-related deaths

Hepatitis C, Hepatitis B and HIV testing

Advice on staying safer when using substances

Health information and facilitate workshops

Support access to other health and local services according to need

Supporting women

An important part of your job will be helping women who may find it difficult to use health and support services.

You will work with different groups of women, including sex workers, LGBTQI+ communities, racialised communities, and women affected by domestic or gender-based violence.

You will build good relationships with local services and communities. You will also support and coordinate peer volunteers, develop and facilitate workshops and conduct outreach work on foot or in a van.

You will help people get the right support, including testing, treatment and other health and support services.

A chance to help build something new

This is a practical, hands-on role. You will work directly with people and communities and take an active role in the development of this new service.

It is an opportunity to use your own experience and skills to help make health and harm reduction services easier for people to access.

This role is open to women only, in line with the sex-based occupational requirements allowed under Schedule 9, Part 1 of the Equality Act 2010.
