Job Description

We are the Parliamentary Health Service Ombudsman, an independent national ombudsman service. We are here to make final decisions on complaints that are yet to be resolved by the NHS in England, UK government departments, and some other public organisations. We do this fairly and transparently without taking sides, and our service is completely free.

About the role

At PHSO we see our accommodation as a strategic enabler, that supports employee productivity, wellbeing, and retention. We've already started on that journey, but want to be even better, creating a destination that provides the right environment and resources, where our employees enjoy being in the office for part of their working week. The successful candidate will play a key role in our organisational success, and you'll get involved in both strategic planning and day-to-day operations.

The Facilities Manager is responsible for providing a modern, welcoming, safe, and comfortable workplace and environment that meets the business's needs and provides an organisation identity and supports our culture. Areas of responsibility include: accommodation, space planning, health and safety, security, wellbeing, maintenance, housekeeping, equipment ordering and repairs, and meeting room provision and support.

We employ approximately 600 staff across two sites in Manchester and London, and since the pandemic have adopted hybrid working, supporting our staff with a home office setup.

If successful, you'll be joining at an exciting time, where accommodation is a strategic priority. Over the next 2 years you'll lead on the relocation of our London accommodation, investigating the availability and suitability of options for new premises, and relocating colleagues to alternate fit for purpose workplace. You'll also remodel our Manchester office to provide an updated and engaging workplace that supports a hybrid workforce.
