EYFS Teaching Assistant

Full Time Monday to Friday, Start Date: September 2026 (or ASAP). Competitive Daily Rate.

Role Details

Our welcoming primary school in DE22 is seeking a dedicated EYFS Teaching Assistant to join their Early Years team on a full time basis. This is a varied and rewarding role, working both in a 1:1 capacity and within the wider classroom environment.

The successful candidate will spend two days per week providing dedicated support to a child with additional needs, helping them access learning, build confidence and develop key social and communication skills. The remaining three days per week, the assistant will work within the wider EYFS classroom, supporting children's learning through play based activities, small group interventions and general classroom support.

Responsibilities
  • Provide 1:1 support tailored to the individual child's needs.
  • Encourage the child's social, emotional and academic development.
  • Support learning through engaging and creative activities.
  • Assist with observations and assessments in line with the EYFS Framework.
  • Work alongside the class teacher and SENCO to implement support strategies.
  • Support the wider EYFS class with group activities and daily routines.
  • Promote a safe, nurturing and inclusive learning environment.
Ideal Candidate
  • Previous experience working within an EYFS setting.
  • Experience supporting children with additional needs is desirable.
  • Patient, caring and adaptable.
  • Excellent communication and relationship building skills.
  • Demonstrates a genuine passion for supporting young children's development.
  • Holds a relevant Teaching Assistant or childcare qualification (desirable).
