Posted 3 hours 36 minutes ago by NHS
We are the Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB), one of the UK's biggest charities, supporting almost two million people living with sight loss in the UK. RNIB is leading the creation of a world where there are no barriers for people with sight loss. Our focus is to change public perceptions and behaviours so that those with sight loss enjoy equal participation and a fully accessible society.
This rewarding role is based in the Eye Care Support Service at Scarborough Hospital. As an ECLO you will provide critical emotional support, information and guidance face to face within a hospital setting, remotely via digital platforms and in community locations, as required. Each day you will help people affected by sight loss to identify their needs, access information and make informed choices to maintain their independence.
Admin tasks are integral to this role. You will create and input accurate patient records into a variety of databases and use Microsoft 365 each day. You need to have excellent organisational skills, be confident using IT systems, and maintain impeccable record keeping.
Key responsibilities include:
- Delivering information and advice services directly to people you are supporting; building professional relationships with patients, clinicians and cross sector partners.
- Working in different hospital locations as required.
- Operating independently, using initiative and demonstrating strong communication skills.
As an RNIB ECLO you will also complete the RNIB & City University Eye Clinic Support Studies qualification (essential for the role). You will receive clinical supervision and peer support, and help RNIB's priority of ensuring no diagnosis goes without support.
We offer a wide range of benefits, including 27 days of holiday per year plus bank holidays, enhanced family friendly benefits, a contributory pension scheme with up to 11 % employer contribution, and a rewards platform with employee discounts across over 800 retailers.
