Job Description

Our Belfast audit team is focused on working with some of Northern Ireland's largest and fastest growing businesses. We have an expanding team of professionals who provide audit and other assurance services to fast growing, dynamic and established sectors of the NI economy. We use our industry expertise and experience to serve our clients who work across a range of industries, including Retail and Consumer, Manufacturing, Pharmaceutical, Hospitality, Technology, Information & Communications and Entertainment.

The Senior Associate role involves taking charge of a broad variety of aspects of audits from planning to completion. The Senior Associate is responsible for organising and managing client assignments; including the completion of assigned tasks and project components as well as coaching, advising, and directing team members.

Responsibilities
  • Lead an audit team and set the audit approach to the engagement, making effective use of team members' skills and operating within budget.
  • Liaise onsite with clients to obtain relevant information to resolve queries and identify causes/risks on issues requiring further consideration.
  • Identify key business and audit risks of a client and investigate all audit issues to arrive at a solution or proposal.
  • Research and resolve technical queries from clients.
  • Work closely with the tax department to ensure taxation figures for the audit are finalised within the required time.
  • Ensure Manager/Senior Managers (or relevant Partner) are informed on a regular basis on audit progress and relevant issues in respect of budget constraints.
  • Report audit findings to the Managers/Senior Managers and Partners and raise any issues arising during the audit which may impact risk.
  • Prepare reports detailing issues found and recommending corrective and preventative actions to resolve them.
  • Review the work of junior team members to ensure quality, thoroughness and completion of assigned tasks within agreed time frames.
  • Communicate relevant issues, request feedback and coach junior team members.
Qualifications
  • Qualified ACA/ACCA or equivalent from a recognised international accounting institution.
  • At least 3 years practice accounting experience in a Big 4 firm or other international accounting firm.
  • Detailed understanding of UK GAAP and IFRS.
  • Business acumen and use of a broad range of tools and techniques to extract insights from current trends in the market.
  • Relationship management - ability to read situations and modify behaviour to build quality, diverse relationships.
  • Creative - demonstrate an ability to contribute to new ideas and propose innovative solutions to problems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Enthusiastic team player with a passion to coach and encourage others to achieve their potential.
  • Ambitious - strong commitment to personal learning and development.
