Experinced mixed Veterinary Surgeon Vacancy, Newcastle, North East

Overview

An independent veterinary practice with over 100 years of history is looking for an experienced mixed animal veterinary surgeon to join their fantastic team. They offer a friendly and supportive work environment, with a strong focus on delivering high-quality, modern medicine and surgery. Based in the heart of North East England, ideally located with easy access to transport links, city life, countryside, and coast.

Caseload and on-call

The caseload is approximately 85% small animals, 10% equine, and 5% farm work, though a small animal-only role is also available.

• On-call duties include one night per week, always with support from another vet.
• One full weekend on call in every six weeks; following weekend off with either Friday or Monday off to create a long weekend.
• A Saturday morning rota of one in three, with one of those shifts forming part of the full weekend on call.
• Bank holiday cover is shared equally among the team.

After working a weeknight on call (Monday to Thursday), you'll have the following afternoon off. You'll enjoy a minimum of six weeks of paid annual leave, with your birthday also given off once you've completed a successful six-month probation.
