Exercise Physiologist in Cystic Fibrosis and Bronchiectasis

An exciting opportunity has arisen to work at one of the UK's largest NHS Trusts. We are looking for an exercise physiologist who is ready for new challenges and seeking opportunities to join our cystic fibrosis and bronchiectasis team.
The successful post holder will hold a key role in the on-going development and running of a multidisciplinary exercise program including detailed exercise testing. The post-holder will work to deliver a specialist service that will not only reduce complications from hospital treatment but aim to improve patients' long-term health as they adopt lifestyle changes. The post-holder will also work closely with the wider multi-disciplinary teams including dietitians, clinical nurse specialists and psychologists to support adherence to treatment.

Main duties of the jobTThe successful candidate should be a dedicated, skilled and motivated clinician with a breadth of experience in exercise prescription across a range of chronic health conditions and proven experience in the field of respiratory. Person Specification Qualifications- BSc in Physiology/Sports Science or equivalent
- Member of the Register of Exercise Professionals (REP), or other associated body (BASES,BACR).
- Training in motivational interviewing and/or health coaching.
- Member of the ECFS exercise special interest group
- MSc Clinical Exercise Physiologist or equivalent
- Intermediate Life Support Skills.
- Experience of managing a caseload of patients and working in a timely manner.
- Experience of planning and executing face-to-face and home-based exercise programmes, analysing outcomes and adapting as required.
- Experience of using motivation interviewing techniques to people with long term conditions
- Experience of delivering exercise intervention to people with cystic fibrosis/ bronchiectasis and other chronic respiratory conditions
- Experience of data collection and analysis to evaluate outcomes.
- Participation in Research/ audit.
- Up to date knowledge of principles of exercise in CF/Bronchiectasis and supporting evidence
- High level knowledge of existing exercise testing and prescription guidelines specific to long-term conditions
- Demonstrable and competent knowledge of exercise physiology and impact of varied clinical pathologies.
- Recognise scope of practice and boundaries of own responsibilities.
- Understanding of different CF/Bronchiectasis treatments and the side-effects that may impact intervention.
- Ability to assess clinical information and structure patient care accordingly, with support from senior team where needed
- Ability to support senior colleagues in designing and implementing training programmes and research & audit activities
- Able to demonstrate a commitment and understanding of the importance of treating all individuals with dignity and respect appropriate to their individual needs
- Demonstrate a sound understanding of data protection and patient confidentiality.
- High level of computer literacy with good use of Microsoft packages including Word, Excel and Outlook applications
- Pays attention to detail and consistently produces accurate work.
- Ensures personal, professional behaviour and integrity at all times.
- Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team
