The Executive Vice President, Books, is the senior editorial and publishing leader for a multi-million dollar global Research Books portfolio. The role leads a worldwide organisation of around 400 editors and is accountable for setting the long-term editorial vision, publishing strategy, and operating priorities for the Books Group.

The EVP brings deep publishing judgement and strong credibility with authors, editors, and academic communities, alongside a clear understanding of how scholarly books create research value. Working closely with Sales, Finance, Operations, Product, and Technology teams, the role ensures that editorial strategy, portfolio development, and innovation translate into sustainable commercial performance and a high-quality author experience.

Key accountabilities include ownership of revenue growth, profitability, and cash-EBITDA performance; defining portfolio direction across subject areas, formats, and business models; and leading the expansion of Open Access books and new propositions, including AI-enabled and interactive formats. The EVP also plays a central role in driving productivity, operational efficiency, and simplification of the author journey.

As a senior people leader, the EVP leads and develops a diverse global leadership team, embeds a high-performance culture, and partners closely with senior colleagues across Springer Nature to ensure alignment and integration.

Ideal candidates will have senior editorial or publishing leadership experience in a complex international environment, a deep understanding of the research publishing landscape, strong commercial acumen, and a well-established reputation within the scholarly publishing or research community.
