Executive Director of Prosperity and Place

If you're an accomplished, visionary senior leader with a passion for shaping thriving places and driving sustainable prosperity, could this be the defining next step in your career?

Thank you for your interest in the role of Executive Director of Prosperity and Place at East Riding of Yorkshire Council. This is an exceptional moment to join our organisation as we advance a bold agenda for growth, innovation, and long term prosperity. With a refreshed leadership structure and a clear strategic ambition, we are positioning the East Riding as a region of national significance, confident, outward looking, and ready to seize new opportunities.

Responsibilities

As Executive Director of Prosperity and Place, you will play a pivotal role in that journey, actively championing the East Riding on the regional and national stage, influencing strategic investment decisions, and ensuring our inclusion in key UK growth and infrastructure programmes. You will lead and model continuous improvement, bringing fresh thinking, innovation, and a relentless focus on delivering measurable impact. You will unlock the potential of our diverse coastal, rural, and urban communities, drive the conditions for sustainable economic success, and lead the strategic ambition to position the East Riding as a regional and national economic powerhouse. Your leadership will inspire confidence, model continuous improvement, and lead transformation with purpose, shaping the future success of the East Riding and the quality of life for the people who live, work, and invest here.

Qualifications

We're looking for a senior leader with a strong track record of shaping and delivering place based growth, ideally gained within a complex and diverse organisation. You will bring demonstrable experience of leading multidisciplinary services at scale, underpinned by a deep understanding of the regulations, legislation and best practice that define the economic development, planning, regeneration and infrastructure landscape. Equally important is your ability to work confidently across strategic partnerships, locally, regionally and nationally, building credibility with government, investors, businesses and communities to secure influence, funding and opportunity for the East Riding.

You will be commercially astute, financially disciplined and skilled in navigating multi million pound portfolios and programmes. As an inspiring and outcomes focused leader, you will cultivate a high performance, cost effective culture that drives continuous improvement and delivers exceptional value through the right structures, operating models, contracts and delivery mechanisms. Above all, you will be a forward looking ambassador for place, combining ambition with strong business development skills to a role that will shape the long term prosperity of our region.
