Job Description
Exam Invigilator Job Purpose 
The Exam Invigilator is responsible for ensuring that university examinations are conducted in a fair, secure, and orderly manner. The postholder will supervise students during examinations, uphold examination regulations, and maintain the integrity of the assessment process while providing a professional and supportive environment.
Key ResponsibilitiesBefore the Examination
- Arrive at the examination venue in sufficient time to prepare the room.
- Assist with setting up examination materials, seating plans, and equipment.
- Check candidate identification where required.
- Ensure examination papers and confidential materials are handled securely.
- Brief candidates on examination regulations and procedures.
During the Examination
- Maintain a quiet and appropriate examination environment.
- Supervise candidates continuously throughout the examination period.
- Enforce university examination regulations consistently and fairly.
- Respond appropriately to candidate queries in accordance with examination procedures.
- Record attendance and verify candidate information.
- Monitor for potential academic misconduct and report any incidents according to university policy.
- Accompany candidates who need to leave the examination room temporarily.
- Ensure health and safety procedures are followed at all times.
After the Examination
- Collect and account for all examination scripts and materials.
- Ensure examination papers are securely packaged and returned to the Examinations Office.
- Complete incident reports and attendance records as required.
- Assist with clearing and restoring examination venues.

Working Conditions
- Casual or part-time position with work allocated according to the examination timetable.
- Hours may vary and can include mornings, afternoons, evenings, or weekends.
- The role requires prolonged periods of standing, walking, and maintaining concentration.
- Act with integrity, fairness, and impartiality.
- Maintain strict confidentiality regarding examination materials and student information.
- Demonstrate professionalism and respect in all interactions.

Salary: £13.45 per hour
