Event Steward

We employ seasonal House Stewards every year. We retain these staff year-on-year as they have very specialised knowledge and skills in relation to telling the story of the House, collection, family history and the relevant wider history of Plymouth sound.

Event Steward are also fire evacuation and FRA trained for the House and carry out the relevant daily checks and ensure public safety. They are collection trained and have the specific responsibility for the collection and its safety and security.

Event Steward Working in Mount Edgcumbe House as a House Steward providing supervised and safe public access.

Responsible for the House and collection on a daily basis.

Responsible for the security and safety of the collection (locking, unlocking, temperature and humidity checks, contents checks, condition reporting).

Event Steward Responsible for fire safety and fire evacuation.

Event Steward Responsible for public tours.

Must be capable of controlling groups of the public and guiding them in an entertaining, pleasant and diplomatic fashion whilst ensuring the safety of a priceless collection of artefacts.

Must have a comprehensive knowledge of the collection, history of House, family and collection as the wider history of Plymouth.
