Overview
We are representing a regulated Multilateral Trading Facility (MTF) trading firm seeking an experienced and strategic EU Business Development Director. This leadership role is based in the Netherlands and reports directly to the CRO in Chicago. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving commercial growth across Europe while ensuring operational excellence and regulatory compliance in line with MTF obligations.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Serve as a member of the local management board
Supervise the exchange-registered trader and oversee the MTF trading platform's operations
Lead the first line of defense, ensuring all business activities comply with internal policies and regulatory frameworks
Key Responsibilities
Commercial Leadership
Develop and execute a sales and marketing strategy for the European financial markets, focused on the MTF trading platform's services and offerings
Act as company director overseeing business development, brokerage services, and pre-/post-trade operations
Build and maintain strong client relationships across the financial services ecosystem
Collaborate with global teams to align business development efforts
Negotiate contracts and deliver regular reporting on key business metrics
Maintain a dynamic sales pipeline and leverage CRM tools for opportunity tracking
Deepen understanding of the MTF trading platform's offerings to deliver tailored client solutions
First Line of Defense
Ensure adherence to best practices and compliance processes, particularly those relevant to MTF operations
Own first-line procedures including client due diligence, regulatory reporting, algorithmic trading controls, and trade monitoring
Partner with Compliance and Risk teams to ensure all activities meet jurisdictional regulatory requirements (e.g., MiFID II)
Required Skills & Abilities
Proven ability to build collaborative relationships across the financial services value chain
Operational leadership across diverse teams and disciplines
In-depth knowledge of European financial markets and MTF regulatory frameworks
Experience with options and listed equity derivatives
Strong sales performance history and negotiation skills
Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management
Fluency in English; proficiency in French and/or German is a plus
Proficiency with CRM systems
Education & Experience
Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, business, mathematics, or equivalent experience
7+ years in financial services, ideally in Options, Equities, and Futures
Prior AFM/DNB suitability approval preferred
Eurex qualified trader is a plus
