About the role

Are you an Ethics & Sustainability expert? Would you like to work for one of the UK's iconic retail brands? We have an amazing opportunity to join our Ethics & Sustainability team. As an Ethics & Sustainability Officer, Performance and Engagement, you will support the delivery of the Waitrose strategy for Ethics & Sustainability (E&S), aligning with the wider business strategy and Purpose.

This varied role involves delivering E&S projects, developing policies, horizon scanning, creating guidance, managing data, and supporting reporting and assurance processes to position the Partnership as a market leader in E&S. You will also handle events management and administrative tasks to support the E&S team's goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work flexibly across the E&S team to deliver outcomes and support peak periods.
  • Scope, deliver, manage, and support projects.
  • Collect, analyze, report data, and communicate findings, developing reports and recommendations.
  • Engage with Head Office Partners, suppliers, and branches to improve compliance and engagement.
  • Recommend ways to embed initiatives into 'business as usual'.
  • Develop communication materials, including presentations, guidance packs, website content, letters, and meeting papers. Support stakeholder events.
  • Conduct research for horizon scanning, strategy, and policy development.
  • Provide administrative support, including project management and meeting support.
Essential Skills
  • Experience implementing ethics and sustainability initiatives in a business context.
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently, with a goal-oriented mindset.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills, able to handle information rapidly and adapt to ambiguity.
  • Good stakeholder relationship skills and team collaboration.
  • Proficiency in IT, GSuite, and data analysis.
  • Attention to detail and passion for sustainability.
Desirable Skills
  • Experience in multiple E&S areas like Environment, Responsible Sourcing, Social Impact, or Health.
  • Policy development experience.
  • Sustainability qualifications.

Working hours: 35 hours, Monday to Friday, 09:00-17:30
