Job Description

I'm currently supporting a well-established construction business that is looking to appoint an experienced Estimator to join their team at their offices in Chorley. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys working with technical detail, and wants to be part of a supportive and highly skilled team.

The role is ideal for someone who has previous experience within construction estimating and is confident working with drawings, producing take-offs, and liaising with both internal teams and external clients.

The Role

As the Estimator, you will play a key part in the tendering process and will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive quotations. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

• Reading and interpreting architect and engineer drawings and specifications• Preparing detailed take-offs• Working closely with the in-house design team to confirm construction details• Obtaining quotations for materials and building strong supplier relationships• Pricing projects using Excel and producing clear, professional tender letters• Monitoring submitted tenders and following up with clients to drive outcomes• Supporting the smooth handover to the operations team once projects are secured

What We're Looking For

This position would suit someone who is organised, confident, and keen to build a long-term career within a specialist construction environment. The successful candidate will demonstrate:

• Experience in construction estimating (highly desirable)• Strong organisational skills from any sector• Good PC literacy, particularly with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel)• A confident verbal communication style and the ability to liaise effectively with both clients and colleagues

Hours, Salary and benefits

  • Up to £35,000-£40,000 per annum
  • Mon-Fri 8am-5pm
  • Two-week Christmas shutdown
  • Modern and friendly working environment
