Estimator - London (Pre-Construction)

Main Contractor £50,000- £65,000 + Benefits

Our client, an established main contractor delivering major residential, commercial, education and mixed use developments across the UK, is seeking a Mid-Senior Estimator to join their London pre construction team. The business has an expanding UK pipeline including high profile developments such as large scale mixed use schemes and significant residential projects.

Role Overview

You will play a key role in preparing competitive tenders and cost plans for projects typically ranging from £20m-£100m+, working closely with internal teams and supply chain partners to ensure accurate, commercially robust submissions.

Key Responsibilities

• Review tender documentation and ensure completeness of information received.
• Prepare take offs, quantities and cost plans using CostX (training provided if needed).
• Break down tender packages and identify suitable subcontractors and suppliers.
• Issue enquiries, evaluate returns and complete detailed subcontract comparisons.
• Identify and communicate risks, opportunities and assumptions.
• Support development of commercial submissions, value engineering and clarifications.
• Attend tender launch, mid bid and settlement meetings; support mobilisation as required.

Skills & Experience

• Estimating experience within a main contractor environment (UK or Irish market).
• Strong understanding of construction methods, procurement and tendering processes.
• Able to interpret drawings, specs and contractual information.
• Proficiency in take offs, measurement and bill production (CostX or similar).
• Excellent commercial awareness, numeracy and attention to detail.
• Strong organisation, prioritisation and communication skills.
