Estates Shift Maintenance Craftsperson

University Hospital of North Midlands NHS Trust (UHNM) is looking to recruit an Estates Shift Maintenance Craftsperson on a permanent basis. The closing date for applications is 06 May 2026.
As a key member of the Estates team, you will be responsible for the day to day maintenance and repair of engineering and building services across UHNM sites. You will work a shift rota, based primarily at County Hospital, for 37.5 hours per week and may be required to support other facilities. The role includes unsocial hours payments and shift enhancements.
Responsibilities- Maintain and repair mechanical and electrical installations on site.
- Respond to maintenance requests and provide timely service to support hospital operations.
- Work with a skilled team to ensure high levels of safety and reliability.
- Follow health and safety procedures and identify improvement opportunities.
The position is band 4, with an annual basic pay starting at £28,392 and rising to £31,157 over three years. You will also receive a £3,000 recruitment and retention premium in the first 12 months, increasing to 16 % thereafter, plus unsocial hours payments and shift enhancements.
Education & Qualifications- Recognised apprenticeship or C&G/BTEC/NVQ3 (or equivalent) in an engineering discipline.
- Additional specialist training or certification within engineering.
- Proven substantial experience within engineering maintenance.
- Experience in maintenance and repair of electrical and mechanical installations.
- Previous experience in a health service context.
