Job Description

We are seeking a proactive and experienced Estate Shift Supervisor to oversee the delivery of maintenance services across the Trust.

You will be responsible for coordinating and allocating resources, including in-house staff and contractors, to ensure Reactive, Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM), and minor works are completed efficiently, safely, and within budget. The role involves supervising performance, ensuring timely completion of works, and maintaining high standards in line with statutory requirements and Trust procedures.

You will also undertake hands on duties including fault finding, installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical and mechanical plant and equipment, ensuring compliance with operational manuals and safety standards.

This role operates on a weekly rotating Day/Night shift pattern.

Main duties of the job
  • Supervisor, deploying staff, both directly employed & Contracted staff.
  • Act as a point of contact regarding plant or equipment failures & to arrange the supply of goods and/or services as necessary and organize remedial works or emergency isolations as & when required.
  • Allocate staff and physical resources (including staff rota's and overtime works) to ensure that the Maintenance Department's Performance Criteria are achieved.
  • Liaise directly with the Maintenance Planner Co ordinator or the Customer in their absence, to prioritise the activities of staff undertaking repair works & general maintenance activities by directly employed staff or contractors.
  • Ensure that all work is undertaken using the correct equipment, by staff having the necessary skills and competence.
  • Liaise with the MPC to prevent unnecessary tasks, waste & superfluous activities.
  • Ensure repair works are undertaken in accordance with the Department's Life Cycle (repair vs replacement) policy & at all time with due consideration of budgetary requirements.
  • At all times carry Trust communication devices to facilitate immediate response to emergencies.
