About The Role

Are you passionate about Race Equality and Inclusion? We have an exciting opportunity for an Equality Lead (Race) to join an award-winning People Services community. People Services prides themselves on providing pro-active, high quality professional advice and excellent customer service to all staff and managers on all People Services matters.

This individual will be accountable for delivering a Race Equality Charter action plan for staff and students for the University. They will also be accountable for the implementation of staff and student outcomes in relation to race equality as highlighted in the University Strategic Equality Plan.

Reporting to the DVPC EDIB, the role will be responsible for the management and coordination of institutional level activity in relation to Advance HE's Race Equality Charter (REC). You will progress the delivery and implementation of EDI initiatives required to support the University's Bronze institutional level award.

Providing professional advice on the REC to stakeholders across the University at all levels, you will also develop high-level project plans and reports at institutional level. Your advice, support and guidance will be based on an informed understanding of the issues facing staff in under-represented groups. You will have an awareness of and empathy with the issues that relate to under-represented groups, in particular ethnic minority groups.

You will work closely with the DPVC EDIB, Equality Lead, Strategic Equality Committee, Senior Leadership Team, and other key stakeholders to manage all relevant activities and documentation required to progress the REC Bronze priorities.

The postholder will lead initiatives to effect positive cultural change, raise awareness and embed race equality principles across the University. Acting with purpose, they will confidently advise, influence, and where necessary challenge, drawing on their professional expertise. They will also evaluate impact and report on progress to ensure sustained, measurable improvement in race equality outcomes.

Welsh Language Skills

The Welsh language level required for this role is Level 1 - A little. The role holder will be able to pronounce Welsh words, answer the phone in Welsh (good morning/afternoon) and use very basic everyday words and phrases (thank you, please etc.). Level 1 can be reached by completing a 1 hour course.
