We are constructing a state-of-the-art underground mine to enable the extraction of Polyhalite - a unique multi-nutrient fertiliser - along with the necessary infrastructure both above and below ground that will be required for transport, processing, and distribution.
POLY4 is our flagship multi-nutrient fertiliser product. Made from polyhalite, it contains four of the six macro-nutrients and many micronutrients that are essential to plant growth. It allows farmers to maximizetheir crop yield, increase quality and improve soil structure with one simple product.
Job DescriptionWe are seeking an experienced Environmental Superintendent to lead the planning, coordination, supervision and reporting of environmental management activities across our construction sites, ensuring compliance with the Project's Development and Environmental Permits and Anglo American standards. In this key leadership role, you will drive continual improvement in environmental performance, manage environmental risks, and support the sustainable delivery of our projects. As regulatory requirements, stakeholder expectations and environmental challenges continue to evolve, you will play a vital role in protecting our reputation, maintaining our social licence to operate, and ensuring responsible stewardship of the natural environment while enabling the long term growth and success of the business.
The role is accountable for day to day environmental compliance and assurance, providing oversight and technical leadership to Environmental Officers and acting as the primary environmental interface between construction teams and the Permitting & Environment Manager.
Provide day to day supervision, mentoring and technical guidance to two Environmental Officers.
Allocate tasks, set priorities and ensure effective resourcing to meet site demands.
Review work quality, monitoring outputs and reports.
Support capability development through coaching, feedback and on the job learning.
Environmental Compliance & Permit ImplementationLead the implementation of environmental permits, planning permissions and associated management plans across the Project Sites.
Translate permit conditions and commitments into clear, practical site controls and ensure consistent application by contractors.
Support the discharge of and ongoing compliance with Development and Environmental Permit conditions.
Monitor construction activities for compliance with legal, permitting and Group requirements, escalating issues as required.
Support and, as necessary, lead Project input to environmental and permitting regulatory inspections, audits and site visits, and coordinate timely close out of actions.
Supervise daily environmental activities across the Project sites, providing visible environmental leadership on site.
Lead the development and implementation of inspection, surveillance and assurance programmes to verify contractor and site compliance.
Review inspection and monitoring results, identify trends, assess risk and recommend corrective actions.
Manage and oversee environmental monitoring programmes (directly or via third parties), ensuring data quality and integrity.
Ensure the implementation of corrective and preventive actions following environmental and/or permitting non compliances and exceedances.
Technical Environmental SupportApply strong technical judgement to interpret environmental data, monitoring results and site observations.
Identify emerging environmental issues and develop practical, risk based solutions to support construction delivery.
Support environmental risk management through identification, verification and monitoring of critical controls.
Responsible for the preparation of environmental management plans, method statements and change assessments as construction activities evolve.

Lead or support investigations into environmental incidents, identifying root causes and corrective actions.
Track and verify completion of actions to prevent repeat incidents and improve site performance.
Stakeholder Engagement & ReportingAct as lead site based environmental contact for construction teams and contractors.
Support engagement with regulators, local authorities and other stakeholders as required.
Contribute to internal reporting on environmental performance, compliance status, risks and trends.
Promote environmental awareness across the site through engagement and training initiatives.
QualificationsAn honours degree in relevant scientific or engineering discipline
At least 3 years working experience in Mining or Construction related field or demonstrable experience in a similar analytical role
Demonstrable experience of undertaking and reporting on environmental monitoring in accordance with compliance requirements
Technical SkillsAbility to interpret complex environmental data and monitoring results.
Strong technical problem solving skills, with a solutions focused approach.
Competence in undertaking environmental inspections, audits and investigations.
Clear, concise technical reporting and record keeping.
