Overview

Excalon are a leading independent multi-utility and power contractor delivering major projects across the North West. They are looking to appoint an Environmental Advisor to support environmental compliance, sustainability initiatives and best-practice across a portfolio of high-profile power, civils and deep excavation projects.

This is an excellent opportunity for an environmental professional looking to join a well-established contractor with strong growth plans, a supportive HSEQ function, and a culture that values continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide day-to-day environmental support and guidance to operational teams across multiple projects.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental legislation, client requirements, and ISO 14001 standards.
  • Support the development, implementation and review of environmental management plans, SWMPs and site-specific controls.
  • Conduct site inspections, monitoring and audits, issuing reports and recommendations.
  • Lead on environmental incident investigations, reporting and corrective actions.
  • Support carbon reduction, waste minimisation, circular economy and other sustainability initiatives.
  • Engage with clients, regulators and internal stakeholders to promote best practice.
  • Deliver toolbox talks, awareness training and coaching to site teams.
  • Assist with permitting, reporting and environmental consents.
  • Input into tender submissions, environmental risk assessments and project start-up processes.
About You
  • Experience working as an Environmental Advisor (or similar) within utilities, power, civil engineering or construction.
  • Strong understanding of environmental legislation, permitting and ISO 14001 requirements.
  • Experience undertaking audits, inspections and monitoring on live projects.
  • Confident engaging with site teams, clients, and regulators.
  • Relevant environmental qualification (Degree, IEMA or equivalent).
  • Full UK driving licence.
