At Primark, we are transforming the way we deliver technology changes across our enterprise systems-from ERP platforms to digital and cloud-native environments. To support this transformation, we are seeking an experienced Environment Manager who will play a pivotal role in managing and optimising our technology environments across the development lifecycle.
Responsibilities- Environment Lifecycle Management: Oversee the provision, configuration, and maintenance of technology environments across lifecycle stages including Development, System Integration Testing (SITS), Pre-Production, whilst supporting Production. This spans on-premises ERP systems to modern cloud environments.
- Meet Demand: Efficiently manage and fulfil requests for new and existing environments, ensuring timely delivery to support project timelines and team needs.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Work with internal teams and partners to understand environment requirements, resolve issues, and communicate environment status.
- Environment Rationalisation: Analyse current environment usage and identify opportunities to consolidate, standardise, and streamline the environment landscape.
- Strategy Development & Execution: Develop and implement a comprehensive strategy for environment optimisation, focusing on cost efficiency, demand fulfilment, and adherence to best practices. Deliver a consistent model across technology with our partners.
- Process Improvement: Continuously identify and implement improvements to environment management processes, tools, and documentation to simplify and optimise the environment landscape.
- Environment Cost Optimisation: Monitor, forecast, and manage environment-related costs across all delivery stages, aligning provisioning and scheduling with demand to ensure efficient resource utilisation and scalable costs across ERP, digital, and cloud-native platforms.
- Security, Vulnerability Management & Compliance: Ensure robust security practices across all environments, proactively identify and remediate vulnerabilities, and maintain compliance with industry and audit requirements.
- Incident Management: Own incident and escalation Resolution across environments, communicating clearly with senior stakeholders and translating complex issues into actionable updates.
- Automation: Build environments of the future using automation and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) to remove manual work and provide scalable, automated provisioning.
- Metrics & KPIs: Monitor and report on key performance indicators such as uptime, provisioning speed, and cost efficiency, aligning metrics with business goals and demand forecasting.
- Store Labs: Develop the model store to provide real-world POS and store environments across markets to test future store capabilities.
- Proven experience in environment management within a complex IT landscape, ideally in retail or a fast-paced industry.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver under pressure.
- Solid understanding of the software development lifecycle (SDLC) and QA methodologies.
- Ability to rationalise environments and develop and execute strategic optimisation plans.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with experience collaborating with internal and external partners.
- Experience with various environment technologies and tools (e.g., virtualization, cloud platforms, containerisation) is a plus.
