We are seeking an experienced MicroSuction Nurse to join our established NHS team and deliver high quality, nurse-ledoutpatient micro suction clinics. This role plays a key part in Sentinelscommunity-based ENT services, delivered across healthcare settings throughoutthe city.

Main duties of the jobLead anddeliver regular micro suction clinics
Maintain aclean, safe, and well-prepared clinical environment
Provideoccasional support to ENT GPwER outpatient clinics, ensuring equipment issterilised and infection control standards are upheld
Apply soundknowledge of Information and Clinical Governance
Use electronicpatient record systems confidently (e.g., Optum, SystmOne)
Uphold highstandards of care in line with operational policies and national guidelines
Contribute toexcellent patient experience through highquality customer service
Act as anadvocate for patient wellbeing and support continuous service improvement

Job responsibilitiesProvisionof micro suction and aural hygiene.
Participatein the promotion and maintenance of effective communication with the patient.
Developand apply communication skills in order to convey complex and sensitiveinformation effectively to patients, carers and other staff, overcoming anybarriers to understanding and providing support during distressing or emotionalevents.
Recordhigh quality notes of patient assessment data into the electronic patientrecord system in a timely manner.
Liaisewith the Administration team to arrange appropriate follow up appointments/actions and discharges.
Ensurethat patient confidentiality is maintained.
Prepareclinical rooms with functioning equipment and stock to ensure the smoothrunning of clinics.
Ensurethat clinical rooms are clean and meet required cleanliness standards prior toclinics and clean down appropriately following clinics. Restock and prepare clinical rooms for otherclinics.
Provideoccasional nursing support to the ENT GPwER outpatient clinics where required.
Ensureup to date knowledge and competence in use of clinical equipment regularly usedand maintain a personal record of training.
Contributetowards organisational projects to set and maintain standards of practice,including audits and quality monitoring.
Demonstratean awareness of and compliance with health and safety legislative regulationsand Sentinels procedures at all times.
Maintainprofessional boundaries and working relationships with patients and colleagues.
Monitoringof and reporting of relevant medical equipment issues and faults. Inform theOperations Manager of all equipment issues.
Identifypotential risks for all staff, patients and visitors and adhere to relevantincident reporting procedures.
Ensurethe safe custody and administration of drugs in accordance with local policiesand legal requirements.
Ensurethat local and national infection control procedures are followed. Report issues to the Operations Manager.
Reportuntoward incidents such as complaints, clinical emergencies, and injury or drugadministration errors as detailed in local protocols and procedures.
Respect the confidentiality of all mattersrelating to their employment and other members of staff. All members of staffare required to comply with GDPR requirements and the Data Protection Act 1998.
Staff must comply with SafeguardingPolicies and Procedures in order to promote safeguarding and prevent abuse tovulnerable people using the organisations services.
Ensure the welfareand safety of children, including staff who come into contact with children andfamilies in the course of their work as well as those staff who have a specificrole with children and families.
Person Specification Qualifications- NMC Registered Nurse
- Possess clinical skills relevant to the ENT area of practice
- Good time management skills and ability to work within specific timescales
- Good organisational skills
- Ability to use own judgement, resourcefulness and common sense
- Adaptable and flexible to the needs of the business.
- Trustworthy and reliable.
- Work in a calm, organised manner and develop a team approach
- Be approachable and friendly
- Significant relevant ENT clinical experience at Band 5 or above and able to manage care of patients in Nurse-Led Aural Micro suction clinics.
- Capable of prioritising own workload
- Acts on own initiative and capable of problem solves utilising resources available.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information
- Knowledge of Information & Clinical Governance.
- IT competent with experience of using MS packages
- Familiar with using digital video platforms, such as Teams/Zoom.
- Experience of using Optum and/or SystmOne electronic patient record systems.
- Experience of organisational /service re-design.
- Knowledge and experience of developing and implementing new processes and systems within an organisation.
