Job Description

SEN English Teacher in Sheffield (S2)

About the role

An SEN English Teacher who delivers engaging and differentiated English lessons to students with a range of special educational needs. Responsibilities include developing literacy skills, confidence, and communication while creating a safe and structured learning environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Differentiated Teaching: Plan and deliver tailored English lessons for individual SEN students.
  • Literacy Development: Support pupils in reading, writing, and communication skills.
  • Behaviour Support: Implement positive behaviour management strategies.
  • Progress Monitoring: Assess and track student progress, adapting methods as needed.
  • Collaboration: Work with support staff, SENCOs, parents, and external professionals.
Requirements
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification.
  • Experience working with SEN students, ideally in specialist or alternative provision.
  • Strong subject knowledge in English Language and Literature.
  • Patience, resilience, and a nurturing approach.
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service, or willingness to obtain one.
