About the School:
An established and well-regarded independent school in Surrey is looking to appoint a passionate and capable Teacher of English to join its vibrant English department. The school prides itself on a holistic educational ethos combining academic excellence, pastoral care, and community spirit.
The Role:
This is a part time role (0.6 FTE, four days per week), covering a long-term staff absence with a strong prospect of becoming permanent. The successful candidate will teach English across Key Stages 3 to 5, delivering a literature-rich, discussion-led curriculum designed to engage and challenge students aged 11-18. There is potential to increase the workload up to Full time for candidates also qualified to teach History or ICT.
Key Responsibilities:
Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging English lessons to KS3-KS5 students.
Foster a love of literature and critical discussion in the classroom.
Assess and monitor student progress, providing timely feedback.
Contribute actively to the English department's collaborative culture.
Support the pastoral development of students.
Participate in departmental meetings and school events.
Optionally, contribute to teaching History or ICT if qualified.
Candidate Profile:
Strong subject knowledge in English with experience teaching GCSE; A-Level teaching experience preferred but not essential.
Dynamic and inspiring teaching style that motivates students.
Commitment to collaborative teaching and holistic student development.
Flexibility and willingness to develop additional skills, particularly in History or ICT.
Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and colleagues.
