Job Description
Engineering Technician 2 - Under the direction of the Process Engineering Manager, the Engineering Technician 2 provides technical support to equipment engineers for the improvement, installation, validation and transfer of replicated custom automated equipment used in the scale up of manufacturing for existing or new Dexcom products.
Responsibilities- Support cross functional equipment deployment teams and work with outside suppliers to meet equipment specifications and timelines.
- Work with schematics, diagrams, layouts, and written descriptions to perform testing, checkout and troubleshooting functions.
- Test performance of electro mechanical assemblies using test equipment.
- Operate, test or maintain robotic equipment and vision systems.
- Analyze and record test results, and prepare written documentation.
- Perform operational test and fault isolation on automated systems and equipment.
- Assist in equipment development under the supervision of the project engineer, including assembly, testing of equipment, fixtures, processes and electronics, and completing engineering studies and validations.
- Follow Dexcom's Safety and Lock Out/Tag Out (LOTO) program and perform all tasks with appropriate safety requirements.
- Update equipment related documentation (manuals, drawings, and specifications) as needed.
- Level 6/7 qualification and 2-4 years of related experience.
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret scientific and technical documents related to equipment specifications.
- Ability to write routine reports, pass downs and correspondence.
- Effective presentation skills and ability to respond to questions from supervisors, engineers and managers.
- Knowledge and experience with PLCs, automated production/process equipment, pneumatics, electro mechanical systems and packaging equipment.
- Experience with process improvement projects, such as improving yields and reducing downtime.
- Proven ability to work hands on in a fast paced environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, and strong personal interaction skills.
- Knowledge of high reliability, high volume manufacturing equipment and processes.
- Technical writing skills applied to manufacturing documentation and process development; experience in creating and revising technical documentation.
