Job Description

A leading food production company in Longford is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to join its site leadership team. This is a key role with responsibility for leading engineering operations within a highly automated manufacturing environment.

The successful candidate will be a hands on engineering leader, comfortable working on the factory floor while also providing structure, direction, and people leadership within the engineering function.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage engineering activities to support safe, reliable, and efficient site operations
  • Drive equipment uptime and performance to support production targets
  • Manage and develop a team of engineers and external service contractors
  • Oversee preventative maintenance programmes and engineering planning
  • Work closely with Operations and other departments to prioritise engineering support
  • Control engineering budgets, costs, and maintenance resources
  • Promote strong health & safety standards and ensure compliance with site and regulatory requirements
  • Contribute to continuous improvement, capex projects, and longer term engineering strategy
Criteria
  • Trade qualified engineer with strong hands on manufacturing experience
  • Proven experience leading engineering teams in a food, pharma, or similar FMCG environment
  • Strong technical problem solving skills within automated production environments
  • Experience managing maintenance systems, contractors, and engineering budgets
  • A practical leadership style with the ability to influence across departments
  • Strong communication, planning, and organisational skills
