Engineering Manager - Enabling and Earthworks
Location: Suffolk (Full time on site)

The Civil Works Alliance (CWA) is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Engineering Manager to support the successful delivery of the Sizewell C Project.
CWA, appointed by the Sizewell C client, brings together three leading delivery contractors - Laing O'Rourke, Bouygues, and Balfour Beatty - to deliver the civils scope including Enabling Earthworks, Main Civil Works, and Marine and Tunnelling.
We are seeking an Engineering Manager to lead and coordinate the construction engineering for the Enabling and Earthworks packages at Sizewell C. This role will ensure engineering delivery excellence through best practice, robust processes and collaborative leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the delivery of engineering across enabling and earthworks, ensuring safety, quality and programme objectives are met
- Manage engineering activities including temporary works, digital engineering, survey, quality, and materials management
- Oversee construction of major civil engineering elements including access bridges, sea defences, retaining structures, TBM launch shafts and marine delivery structures
- Ensure compliance with technical specifications, client requirements, consents and industry standards
- Drive right-first-time delivery through effective coordination with pre-construction, design, commercial and procurement teams
- Lead and mentor engineering teams, embedding lessons learned from Hinkley Point C into SZC delivery
- Champion digital transformation, ensuring technology and tools are embedded into site engineering delivery
- Oversee supply chain engineering performance, including off-site fabrication and manufacturing
Essential:
- Civil Engineering degree (or equivalent) with strong construction engineering experience
- Experience managing engineering delivery on large infrastructure projects, particularly earthworks and structures
- Knowledge of temporary works, survey, HSQE and materials management
- Proven project management skills with good understanding of design drawings and specifications
- Strong communication, teamwork and digital skills (BIM)
- SMSTS or equivalent, plus CSCS card
- Chartered or working towards chartership
- Experience of marine structures and deep foundations
- Hands-on experience with surface water and groundwater management
