As an apprentice to Hayward Tyler, you will be trained to become a skilled Engineering Fitter with training in core areas such as, interpreting drawings/specifications for required components or assemblies, refurbishing/fault finding and problem solving, using various tooling & equipment, quality checking/testing and calibration of units/components.

The Engineering Fitter Apprenticeship is aimed at people who wish to gain real engineering qualifications as well as practical on the job skills. This is achieved through a combination training/tuition and work-based learning activities.

Please note, whilst not confirmed, the training provider for this apprenticeship may be based in Northampton and applicants will need to be able to get to this location on a weekly basis.

Engineering Fitter Level 3 Apprenticeship Standard:

The4 Year Apprenticeship programmeis structured in partnership with the college and is organised as follows:

Year one:

  • Gaining skills in understanding, reading engineering drawings, basic assembly and dismantlement, hand tools/techniques and measuring equipment

Year Two:

  • Specific training in core areas to develop skills such as planning work activity, resources, equipment and tooling

Year Three:

  • Developing your workshop skills using more focused techniques

Year Four:

  • Working towards being a skilled Fitter and improving competence in a chosen speciality
