VANRATH are recruiting a Energy Systems Manager for a large high-level Utility organisation in Belfast. Reporting into the Head of Networks, this is a permanent role.
Hybrid working arrangements (3 days in the office), car parking, and free lunches are included.
Remuneration
£60 - 65k + high-level benefits (Bonus up to 12%, up to 20% pension, 36 + 3 holidays, etc.)
Responsibilities
The Future Power Systems function provides strategic leadership on solutions to power system resource adequacy and flexibility needs, aligned with government renewable targets and carbon emission budgets in Ireland and Northern Ireland. Responsibilities include developing capacity solutions and emissions modelling in line with new carbon budgets.
You will lead and manage a team of experts in a dynamic environment focused on planning and delivering innovative solutions to meet power system needs, supporting decarbonisation and renewable energy targets. Your role will involve developing future system strategies, focusing on resource adequacy, flexibility, capacity planning, emissions modelling, and innovation.

Essential Criteria:
- Degree level qualification (or equivalent) in Mathematics, Engineering, or related fields.
- Strong understanding of Energy Systems, with awareness of national, European, and global energy and climate policies.
- Experience leading a team of technical experts and managing projects.
- Proven track record of delivering complex solutions and engaging with external stakeholders, including presentations at key forums.
- Excellent interpersonal, organisational, and delivery skills.
- Strong analytical, judgement, and problem-solving abilities.
- Advanced computer skills and analytical capabilities.
Desirable:
- Experience in a Transmission System Operator focusing on power system or economic analysis.
- Knowledge of electricity and energy system modelling platforms and processes.
