Job Description
Key player in the Swiss energy landscape, FMV - Forces Motrices Valaisannes pursues a clear and strong ambition: to sustainably strengthen its position as a leader in hydropower production. In this context of growth and increasing power, our client wants to evolve its energy management function to realize this ambition. We have been commissioned to recruit a personality capable of combining vision, excellence, and assertive leadership, as the DIRECTOR OF ENERGY MANAGEMENT & KEY ACCOUNT.A general management position at the heart of hydropower, reporting to the General Director, you define and deploy the overall management strategy of a hydropower portfolio across short, medium, and long-term horizons. You supervise hedging activities and operations in the Swiss and European markets (spot, intraday, forward, PPAs, structured products, guarantees of origin, and balancing mechanisms), focusing on volumes and positions. Responsible for an adjusted risk P&L, you ensure the overall performance of the portfolio, including production volumes, while adhering to a robust governance framework that integrates risk management (VaR, stress tests, limits), compliance, and regulatory reporting. You structure and evolve Front, Middle, and Back Office operations, enhancing processes, analytical tools, and risk management to support growth and industrialize the function.At the same time, you develop relationships with B2B clients, distributors, and industrial partners, negotiating long-term agreements actively to optimize growth and revenue generation. Through your in-depth market analysis (price evolution, hydrology, weather), you provide the General Management and the Board with structuring insights and represent the company before various authorities.Profile: You hold a Master's degree in economics, finance, engineering, or equivalent, complemented by training in energy trading or risk management. With over ten years of experience in electricity trading or portfolio management-ideally in a comparable environment (managing multiple TWh)-you have worked at the core of Swiss and European markets and mastered their mechanisms. Accustomed to being responsible for a P&L, you possess confirmed expertise in risk management and pricing models, including price forecasts and hydrological assessments. Your background showcases solid experience in managing multidisciplinary teams across Front / Middle / Back Office, with the ability to unite, structure, and evolve a team in a growth context.Equipped with a strong commercial sense, you know how to establish trust-based relationships and develop sustainable partnerships while negotiating complex long-term value agreements. Your leadership posture allows you to interact comfortably at the General Management and Board levels, combining vision, decision-making ability, and strong influence.
