Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Endocrinologist to join our client's medical team in Limerick. As an endocrinologist, you will diagnose, manage, and treat disorders of the endocrine system, including diabetes, thyroid diseases, metabolic and hormonal imbalances, and glandular problems. You will provide comprehensive care to patients and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure the highest standards of medical service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Diagnose and manage disorders of the endocrine system including diabetes, thyroid diseases, adrenal disorders, pituitary diseases, and metabolic bone diseases.
  • Perform clinical examinations, diagnostic tests, and treatment planning.
  • Provide ongoing management of chronic endocrine conditions, including medication management and lifestyle recommendations.
  • Collaborate with dietitians, diabetes nurse specialists, and other healthcare professionals to provide holistic care.
  • Counsel and educate patients and their families about endocrine conditions, treatment options, and disease management.
  • Keep up-to-date with the latest research, treatments, and technologies in endocrinology.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary meetings, case conferences, and continuous professional development.
  • Contribute to the development of protocols and guidelines to improve patient care.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate patient records and ensure compliance with regulatory and ethical standards.
  • Engage in clinical research activities and trials, if applicable.
Requirements
  • Medical degree and full registration with the Irish Medical Council (IMC).
  • Specialist training in Endocrinology and Diabetes, with completion of the specialist register (or eligibility for inclusion).
  • Minimum 3-5 years of clinical experience in endocrinology.
  • Strong knowledge of current trends and advancements in endocrinology.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to provide compassionate and comprehensive care to a diverse patient population.
  • Familiarity with electronic medical records and data management systems.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Subspecialty interest in diabetes, thyroid diseases, or pediatric endocrinology.
  • Experience in clinical research or teaching.
