G9: £42,839 - £46,142 per annum.

Walsall Council's Employment and Skills Team has a strong track record of delivering high-quality employment and training support to residents for over a decade. This is an opportunity to join a committed and high-performing team that delivers employer engagement projects and strategic initiatives designed to improve life chances of our residents, strengthen local communities and support inclusive economic growth across the borough.

We are seeking an enthusiastic, motivated and suitably experienced individual to support the delivery of the award-winning Walsall Works programme and a range of grant-funded employability initiatives. These programmes play an important role in supporting unemployed and economically inactive residents to access sustainable employment, training and progression opportunities.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and co-ordinate engagement with local partner organisations, employers and training providers, ensuring strong collaboration across service sectors to support the Council's employment and skills objectives.
  • Develop effective working relationships, identify opportunities for partnership working and align employment and training provision with the needs of residents, employers and the wider local economy.
  • Demonstrate a strong track record in project co-ordination, employer engagement and partnership development, supported by excellent communication and influencing skills.
  • Work collaboratively across organisational boundaries, building credibility with key stakeholders and supporting employers to develop corporate social responsibility activity, promote positive action schemes and maximise social value opportunities linked to major regeneration and investment programmes.
  • Lead on the collection and interpretation of labour market intelligence and the analysis of economic data to identify emerging trends, understand barriers affecting residents and inform service planning.
  • Use intelligence to support the development of targeted recruitment solutions, strengthen workforce skills planning and ensure the Council's employability offer remains responsive, evidence-based and aligned to local need.
Qualifications and experience
  • Strong track record in project co-ordination, employer engagement and partnership development.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills; ability to work across organisational boundaries and build credibility with stakeholders.
  • Experience of analysing labour market information and economic data to inform service planning and targeted interventions.
