Electrical Training Officer - North East

Location: Home based with travel required in the North East / Hull region.

Working pattern/hours: Full time, 35 hours per week.

Salary: Up to £39,250 depending on skills and experience.

About the role

You'll manage a caseload of apprentices across the region, working closely with both learners and employers to monitor progress, provide constructive feedback, and ensure apprentices are on track to meet the full requirements of their apprenticeship standard. This role is about more than ticking boxes; you'll be a trusted advisor, coach, and link between the apprentice, their employer, and JTL, ensuring all three work together towards successful outcomes.

You'll:

  • Support apprentices through regular workplace visits and progress reviews, offering mentoring, coaching, and guidance to help them succeed.
  • Work with employers to ensure they understand their responsibilities, are engaged with the apprentice's progress, and can provide the right opportunities for skill development.
  • Carry out fair and accurate assessments of apprentice knowledge, skills, and behaviours in line with awarding organisations and industry standards.
  • Provide clear, constructive, and developmental feedback that helps apprentices improve and move towards a successful end-point assessment.
  • Maintain accurate and up to date records of apprentice progress, attendance, and achievements, producing timely reports and tracking against agreed milestones.
  • Identify skills gaps or risk of non completion early and agree targeted interventions with apprentices and employers.
  • Complete pre placement vetting for new and existing employers in line with JTL procedures to ensure safe and suitable working environments.
  • Embed safeguarding, Prevent, equality and diversity, and health and safety into every aspect of your work, ensuring apprentices feel safe, supported, and able to thrive.
  • Promote positive attitudes to learning, workplace professionalism, and the development of essential employability skills.
  • Act as an ambassador for JTL by attending careers events, school visits, and industry activities to promote apprenticeships.
  • Keep your own technical knowledge and assessment practice up to date through CPD and engagement with industry developments.
What we're looking for
  • Qualified electrician, NVQ Level 3, recognised apprenticeship or equivalent.
  • Verifiable industry experience as a qualified operative/practitioner.
  • GCSE/O-Level Maths and English (A-C, 9-4) or Level 2 equivalent.
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and IT skills.
  • Commitment to your own ongoing professional development.
  • Current IET Wiring Regulations (18th Edition) or willingness to up skill on appointment.
  • Health & Safety qualification (e.g. IOSH Managing Safely).
  • Assessor qualifications (D32, D33, A1, or TAQA).
  • 2391 or equivalent Testing and Inspection qualification.
  • Working knowledge of building services engineering and related industries.

  • 25 days' annual leave plus bank holidays, with extra days for long service and a Christmas shutdown.
  • Generous pension scheme with matched contributions and an additional employer top up.
  • Life assurance and occupational sick pay.
  • Optional private healthcare after probation, plus a free annual health check after three years.
  • Gym membership discount scheme, cycle to work scheme, and access to an Employee Assistance Programme for you and your family.
  • CPD support, including funding for professional qualifications, ongoing training, and paid professional memberships.
  • Additional benefits such as a corporate wear allowance, retail discounts, and season ticket loans.
