Our client is a respected manufacturer with a strong reputation for innovation and quality. They are now seeking an Electrical Production Engineer to join their Production Engineering Department. This role is ideal for an apprentice-trained and qualified Electrical Engineer who enjoys solving technical problems, improving processes, and supporting production across all departments.
The RoleThe Electrical Production Engineer will provide technical support across production teams, with a focus on electrical systems, machine testing, and process improvements. The role will involve hands-on problem solving, electrical validation, preparation of technical documents, and supporting service and QA teams.
Key Responsibilities- Provide technical support for production teams on electrical systems
- Respond quickly to machine breakdowns and line stoppages to minimise downtime
- Electrically test and validate new machine options, including functional checks
- Prepare modification requests for electrical circuits and loom harness design changes
- Produce electrical assembly process documents and check sheets
- Test and evaluate new machines, ensuring functionality and compliance
- Specify, design, and commission test rigs
- Identify risks and implement safety improvements
- Provide technical support to Service and Quality Assurance departments
Essential:
- Apprentice-trained in electrical engineering discipline
- Qualified Electrical Engineer with 18th Edition and HNC (Electrical Engineering)
- Strong industrial electrical experience
- IT literate (Microsoft Office packages)
- Good communication and time management skills
- Strong grasp of electrical engineering principles
- Team player, able to work with colleagues at all levels
Desirable:
- Knowledge of PLCs and inverter drive systems
- Ability to read and interpret electrical circuit drawings and ladder diagrams
- Fault-finding experience using diagnostics, I/O, and PLCs
- Understanding of health & safety, risk assessment, and compliance requirements
- Knowledge of electrical inspection and testing methods
- Familiarity with hydraulic and pneumatic systems to support fault finding
- Project planning and process improvement skills
- Ability to operate CNC machinery
