Overview of Department
No two days are the same within the electrical department. One day could involve designing and organising the installation of a new VSD in line with a motor, whilst the 2nd could involve switching the 11Kv network in preparation of a new substation complete with associated switchgear. With the current trend of electrifying services, the GSK Worthing site electrical infrastructure is constantly adapting and improving to facilitate this goal. With capital investment agreed, new substations are being installed with the exciting proposal of several large PV arrays which are in line with the company's sustainable energy pledge. Alongside the LV/HV infrastructure works, we have ongoing works to improve safety critical services such as the fire alarm to ensure the system is compliant with British Standards. The electrical engineering team also supports the internal Manufacturing, Packaging and Utilities departments, this offers a great insight into each department and how they are fundamental to the GSK Worthing site. This support and coordination also extends to the sub-contracting companies which play a pivotal part in the development, improvement works associated with capital projects and with the remedial / maintenance tasks assigned to the compliance team.
