Our client is a global leader in stainless steel, as a business they strive to employ people who are passionate about success and seek to inspire others in their working environment.
At their site in Sheffield, they are requiring a skilled Electrical Shift Engineer to join their dynamic and hardworking team on a permanent basis.
The main tasks and responsibilities include:
- Working on a shift basis covering the electrical operations requirements of a heavy engineering plant.
- Electrical maintenance of all motors and drives.
- Fault finding on electronic cards to component level.
- Maintenance of the mill thyristor drives.
- Electrical maintenance of overhead D.C. and A.C. cranes.
- Maintenance of PLC systems, specifically ABB and Allen Bradley.
- Use of programming tools to identify faults on PLC systems and change parameters as required.
- Monitoring and maintaining the furnace control systems, calibration of controllers and the air/gas transducers, changing of thermocouples and the lighting procedure of furnaces.
- Reacting to breakdown requirements and safely/quickly identifying faults to minimize the impact on production.
For this position of Electrical Shift Engineer:
Your working hours are on a rotating shift pattern: 1 week mornings (6am to 2pm), 1 week afternoons (2pm to 10pm), and 1 week nights (10pm to 6am) Monday to Friday with the am shift working a Saturday morning and a day off during the next week.
THE CANDIDATE:
Required:
- Education to H.N.C. Level in an Electrical Engineering discipline.
- A basic understanding of P.C. based software, Excel, etc.
- An understanding and ability to interpret electrical drawings.
- Experience in writing reports detailing the activities during shift.
- Experience in working to safety legislation relevant to operations and electrical maintenance.
- Experience in adhering to S.W.P.'s, risk assessments, I+I procedures and the permit systems, as well as I.E.E. Regulations.
THE BENEFITS:
£(phone number removed) salary plus 20.67% shift allowance.
For working extra hours, there is a 13-hour payment each month = £2475 a year (Not guaranteed).
Quarterly bonus with a max payout of 20%.
Overtime is paid at 1.5x with certain Bank Holidays paid at 2x (Overtime is on Saturdays).
28 days holiday (for 1st year including BH, increasing annually up to a max of 35 after 5 years' service).
Pension - Under 30 - 1% (Employee), matched, 10% (total potential); 30-49 - 1-3% (employee), matched, 10-14% (total potential); 50+ 1-5%, matched, 10-18% (total potential).
