The responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to:
- Work as part of a multidisciplinary team to provide advice to Defence on current and emerging sonar sensor and system technologies.
- Build and sustain collaborative relationships with Defence clients, industry and international partners relating to current and future sonar systems.
- If willing and suitable: contribute to the MSTC's field trials capability and participate in at-sea data collection activities, including the analysis of experimental data.
The Undersea Systems MSTC of Sensors and Effectors Division works closely with the ADF to provide support to in-service and future sonar systems and weapons, and conducts world leading research and development of undersea sensors and sensing systems for Undersea Warfare.
The Sonar Processing Systems STC, within the Undersea Systems MSTC, includes scientists, engineers, mathematicians, technologists and technicians working on the development and analysis of sonar sensing and processing technologies and concepts to enhance the Anti-Submarine Warfare capability of Navy and Air Force. This includes undertaking timely analysis and developing technical tools to support current and future sonar systems; investigating novel processing, classification, planning and display techniques and systems, and conducting experimentation at sea to demonstrate concepts, collect, and analyse scientific data.
Our Ideal CandidateThe ideal candidate will have:
