EHS Officer

Vickerstock are working in partnership with a leading food manufacturing organisation on the appointment of an Environmental Health & Safety Officer.

Working closely with site management and operational teams, you will support both Health & Safety and Environmental performance across a busy food manufacturing environment.

This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career EHS professional to develop broad practical experience across risk management, incident investigation, environmental compliance, auditing and sustainability while helping drive continuous improvement across the site.

In your new role:

• Support the implementation and ongoing improvement of the site's EHS management systems
• Conduct workplace inspections, audits and risk assessments across site operations
• Investigate accidents, incidents and near misses, identifying root causes and appropriate corrective actions
• Develop and review safe systems of work, H&S procedures and supporting documentation
• Deliver H&S inductions, toolbox talks and employee training
• Support compliance with environmental legislation, permits and company requirements
• Monitor waste management, recycling and other environmental controls across the site
• Conduct environmental inspections and support internal and external audits
• Assist with environmental improvement and sustainability initiatives
• Track corrective and preventive actions through to completion
• Support emergency preparedness and response planning
• Monitor EHS performance and prepare monthly KPI reports for management

What you'll need to succeed:

• Qualification in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Management or a related discipline
• Previous experience within an EHS role
• Experience within manufacturing, construction, engineering, logistics or another operational environment
• Good working knowledge of Health, Safety and Environmental legislation
• Practical understanding of risk assessment, workplace inspections and compliance
• Strong communication and organisational skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
• Full driving licence

Desirable (it would be great if you have this, but don't worry if you don't):

• NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent
• IOSH membership
• Internal Auditor qualification
• Experience working with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001
• Previous experience within food manufacturing or FMCG
• Exposure to sustainability or environmental improvement programmes
