Job Description
The EHS Officer is a crucial role in ensuring the health, safety and compliance.The successful individual will be responsible for developing, managing and implementing comprehensive Health & Safety initiatives that will contribute to Uniphar creating a best-in-class H&S function across our sites in Ireland, the UK and potentially the EU.The primary role of the EHS Specialist is to lead, develop, implement and monitor the application of the Safety, Health and Welfare Policy.The role will support and advise the Senior Management Team on Health and Safety management matters to ensure that the company complies with its legal and statutory obligations and demonstrates best practice in safety management. Responsible for also driving compliance at a senior level across Ireland, the UK and potentially supporting the EU.You will play a critical role in safeguarding the well-being of our employees, clients, contractors, and communities while upholding our commitment to operational excellence and sustainability.Candidates will be required to travel between different Medtech sites, so ideally you should have a valid driver's license and access to a car.Key OutcomesEnsure that the Health & Safety department has the necessary resources in place to achieve its objectives and that the Group H&S goals are being met.Track the progress of the department's projects and team members, assess performance against targets and goals. Provide feedback, conduct performance reviews, and implement adjustments as needed to improve team efficiency.Develop and implement health & safety policies, procedures, and programs to meet regulatory requirements and industry best practices. Ensure they are adhered to and are regularly reviewed, updated and communicated.Conduct regular site inspections and audits to identify potential hazards, risks, and non-compliance with health and safety standards. Communicate the findings of the audits to site management and assist in the closure of issues.Develop and monitor health & safety performance data, producing reports on relevant Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for senior stakeholders. Lead incident investigations, ensuring thorough root cause analysis and implementation of corrective actions.Manage and devise the agenda for regular health & safety Committee meetings.Ensure all Health and safety risk assessments, SOP's, Work instructions are kept up to date on the Group's documentation system Q pulse.Lead the execution of health and safety initiatives to ensure continuous improvement.ResponsibilitiesSustainability - Carbon ReductionAccident Investigation & ReportingAsset Management and CertificationInduction and Annual CertificationAudit ComplianceSafety Statement OwnershipSafety Committee Team LeadTraining Administration and DeliveryRadiation and Laser Safety MonitoringSite Policy Review and Ongoing GovernanceSite Security Access Control and ApprovalsContractor RAMs review and ApprovalIn-house and Field Service RAMs review and ApprovalBuilding Fire Certification ComplianceWaste Management - WEEE/PackagingMedical Gas MaintenanceOffice and Home ErgonomicsKey Skills & ExperiencesFirst aid responder qualification desirable.2-3 years' experience in a health and safety role in an FMCG environment.Level 6 health and safety qualification.
