An exciting opportunity is available to join a small, close-knit and dynamic team working in a remote and rural District General Hospital. The appointee will provide General Paediatric and level 1 Neonatal Services for children in Moray, based at Dr Gray's Hospital (DGH), Elgin, and will have an enviable work-life balance with a rural flavour.

Responsibilities
  • Join five other Consultants to contribute to General Paediatric on-call, Consultant of the Week rota and General Paediatric clinics.
  • Share responsibilities for ward rounds, outpatient clinics, continuing care, administration, teaching, audit and research with the existing Consultant workforce.
About the post
  • Post is based at Dr Gray's Hospital, Elgin, delivering General Paediatric and level 1 Neonatal care.
  • The post holder will work in a 40 hour per week, 12 month fixed-term Consultant post.
  • Out of hours rota functions on a 1 in 5.5 basis. Flexible arrangements such as part-time or job share would be considered for the right applicant.
  • There is a developing team in Moray with recent workforce expansion and service planning, including the potential re-establishment of SCBU services in Elgin in line with the Moray Maternity Programme.
Qualifications and eligibility
  • UK trained doctors should have evidence of higher specialist training leading to CCT or be within 6 months of confirmed entry on the GMC Specialist Register from date of interview.
  • CESR (Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration) or Portfolio Pathway doctors are only eligible to apply for a substantive Consultant post once CESR or Portfolio Pathway registration is awarded. Those with an International Recognised Specialist Qualification approved by GMC should have a confirmed entry on the GMC Specialist Register.
  • Full registration with a licence to practise with the GMC is required (licence to practise must be in place prior to starting in post).
